Frustrating draw sees both sides stay midtable

Brighton were held to a frustrating draw as Brentford earned a Premier League point on the south coast.

The home side had most of the play and 24 shots on goal but could not find a way past Mark Flekken or his replacement Hakon Valdimarsson in the Brentford goal.

Julio Enciso set the tone in the early minutes when he clattered a shot off the woodwork after Flekkenโ€™s pass was intercepted.

The Brentford keeper then made fine saves from Matt Oโ€™Riley and Kaoru Mitoma before injuring his groin.

The Bees threatened from time to time themselves, with Yoane Wissa seeing a goal disallowed for a tight offside.

Solly March returned as a late substitute after 14 months out with injury but could not inspire a goal as both teams had to settle for a draw. It is just the second point Brentford have earned on the road.

Brighton โ€“ who are now six without a win in the league โ€“ are now 10th in the table while Brentford are two points behind in 11th.
